Doing the Right Thing

  • Sacrificing the Few: Is it okay to do something bad to one person if it saves a lot of other people or stops a disaster?
  • Out of Sight, Out of Mind: Do we care less about helping people if they are far away, live in the future, or if resources are running out?
  • Secret Morality: Would you still follow the rules if you were invisible and couldn't get caught? Are bad thoughts wrong if you never act on them?
  • Balancing the Scales: Can doing a really good deed erase a past crime? Does it count as a good deed if you did it completely by accident?

What Makes You, You?

  • Mind vs. Body: Are you your physical body, your physical brain, or just your collection of memories?
  • Clones and Teleportation: If a machine perfectly copies you into a new body, did you survive, or did you die and get replaced by a copy?
  • Changing Over Time: Should you be punished for a crime you committed decades ago if your personality has completely changed and you feel like a different person?

Do We Really Have Free Will?

  • Destined Paths: If a supercomputer could perfectly predict your entire life, or if someone secretly controlled your brain, are your choices really yours?
  • Trapped Choices: Can you truly choose freely if there are no other options, or if a machine is controlling your mood?
  • Running on Autopilot: If you do a good deed out of pure habit without even thinking about it, does it still make you a good person?

What is Real?

  • Trusting Your Senses: Is the physical world around us actually real, or are our senses tricking us?
  • Humans vs. Machines: Could a perfectly programmed robot ever truly "feel" emotions and be aware, or is it just faking it?
  • Fake Happiness vs. Messy Reality: Would you rather live a perfect, painless life in a fake virtual simulation, or a painful but real life?

Fairness and Society
